I’M TEACHING A CLASS

Do you love true stories, well-told? Do you have a longform journalism project you’re eager to launch? Please join me for a two-session June class and we’ll get it off the ground.

At both article- and book-length, I love to read and write nonfiction, but the first steps–when the story seems to big to rein in–can feel daunting. In my class, we’ll dissect favorite pieces past and present (think Joan Didion and David Grann) and I’ll share how I plan, visualize, and execute a piece.

I’m delighted to be teaching through Hugo House, a writing institution I’ve loved and patronized since moving to Seattle. Due to lockdown measures, all courses are via Zoom—which means you can take this class from anywhere. The sessions are on 6/15 and 6/22, from 7:10pm to 9:10pm PST. Click here for more information and to sign up. (Early bird prices are in effect through 5/31.)
